id hold out for a better deal from maplin.... i got my linksys router and wireless PCMCIA card bundle for less than that 6 months ago from maplin... definately worked out cheapest as nearest contender (Ebuyer) was pushed up by the postage.

(also sold the PCMCIA for £20 as my laptop has built in... ;))

If you have BT broadband then give them a call as I got a wireless router/modem for just £10 inc. delivery. The wireless cards are also £10.
Hey tommy do you mean call BT or Maplins?

    BT.

I already had BT broadband but I noticed that they now do new broadband packages that include a wireless router/modem (instead of the wired frog modem they used to supply to new customers).

I gave the new sign-up dept a call and explained that I was already a BT broadband customer so could I have the wireless router/modem. They offered it to me for £10 inc delivery. A wi-fi card would also have been £10 but I already have one in my laptop.

The wireless modem/router is a BT Voyager 2091.

Whilst I was at it, I also downgraded my BT broadband package (only difference is the the monthly gb usage allowance). The BT person told me they don't enforce the usage limits so I might as well save and go for the cheaper package.

What package did you downgrade to Tommy? I am on the Option 2 package and as far as I can see the only real difference is 2 vs 6GB download.
if i had known then what i know now

Yes option 2, and yes the difference is only 2 v 6GB per month which they don't enforce anyway, so might as well save £ and go for the 2GB.

I did switch the package and payment method to save £ on the broadband package itself, but nothing was said nor did I sign anything for a new 12 month contract.

Just picked up a Maplin Electronics sale brochure and they're selling a home wifi kit for only £59.99 (reduced from £99.99).

Coming up as £99.99 on the site, even in the sale section. Is this an instore offer or am i looking in the wrong place

Bizare - used the Live Help facility to ask about the price, and whilst talking to them the price dropped from £99.99 to £49.99  So I put it in my basket and am now waiting to see what turns up. Still confused, but thanks to the original poster
