Just picked up a Maplin Electronics sale brochure and they're selling a home wifi kit for only £59.99 (reduced from £99.99).
You get a wireless router, PCMCIA wifi card for a laptop and a usb wifi adaptor for your desktop (additional cards/adaptors can be bought at Maplin or on the web.
Importantly this is a wifi 'g' kit and not the slower 'b' (but will still work with the wifi on PSP's/PDA's etc).
An excellent bargain for anyone wanting to lose the wires hassle free!

Note this is only a ROUTER. A modem will still be required to access the internet.0

To clarify ....
This Router is ideal for anyone who takes broadband from Telewest or NTL (as they provide the cable modem with Ethernet connection) or via the ethernet connection via the STB. It can also be used by businesses who take service in managed office spaces who oftern just provide an RJ45 connection.
If an ADSL user wants to use this product they will need to purchase a seperate modem that has RJ45/Ethernet connectivity. (ie. you can not use the cheap USB modem that most ADSL providers give away to domestic subscribers).0 -
Does this mean that if you already have and ADSL modem / router (such as the Netgear DG384) you can purchase one of these and connect using one of the spare ethernet ports on the router and will have a wireless enabled network?0

Not so sure that this is actually a bargin, as the bits included in the pack cost that sort of price anyway if you bought them seperately from an online computer parts site, such as dabs or ebuyer.0

You'd have an asdl modem/router plugged into a Wireless Router, router into router  think you might have compatibility nightmares trying to setup them to work together ie firewalls, browser setup etc etc
The normal route for a non-wireless DG834 would be to buy WAP (Wireless access point) and attach that, tbh it could be easier and as cheap to buy an all-in-one adsl modem/wireless/router, especially if your Netgear is a 'B', its ca chance to upgrade to a 'G' or even faster0 -
Here is the URL for the kit in offer:

I'll be wary when buying a non-branded kit.0 -
This one at PC World is ideal if you are on BT and have a laptop. I got one for my brother-in-law and it works a treat, better than my Netgear.

Yes in threory - but you would need to know how to configure it, you would need to potentially create 2 seperate subnets. This type of connection would also require a cross-over cable.
Therefore - can be done, but you would require a little know-how !0 -
If you have BT broadband then give them a call as I got a wireless router/modem for just £10 inc. delivery. The wireless cards are also £10.0

Tommy -give who a call ?Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
