Good Evening,
I am hoping somone can give me some advice. I have my dog insured with a well known dog insurer as I contined with them after the free 6 weeks puppy insurance my dog came with because she actually fell ill and we needed to use them. I am still paying my policy every month and my dog is now 9 months old but want to cancel it because they are charging 3, nearly 4 times more than many other companies I have looked at.
When I enquired about cancelling my policy I was told that my monthly premiums were based on a years policy and in order to cancel it I would have to pay the outstanding amount of £258!
If anyone knows anything about this I will be grateful of any advice!

You need to look at the cancellation terms of your policy, but it could be correct.
Did you get any paperwork you can check?0 -
With an Insurance policy if you make a claim on it within the year then there is no refund of premium if you cancel it if you paid up front, if you pay over instalments then the rest of the instalemenst are due.
Are you aware if you change Insurers the new company will exclude all claims as a direct result / connected to what you have already claimed for.
The Policy you have with Pet Plan is by far the best policy on the market and covers many things most other policies do not include. If you pet had a condition that needed treatment each year it will save you a fortune as most other companies will exclude cover for it after the first year0 -
Thanks for your replies. It is the Kennel Club I am currently insured with. My dogs illness wasn't something which will require ongoing treatment. She only required treatment and medication for 4 weeks. The £60 excess and the 10% of the claim I had to pay meant that I ended up paying a reasonable chunk of the bill myself anyway.
I have looked at the Terms and Conditions and I think I may have to just continue my policy with them until it runs out at the start of next year. One thing I do know is that I wont be renewing it with them as when I compare it to others offering the same benefits there are definitely cheaper options out there!0
