Selling lapto, need advice

Options
Hello ladies and gents

am new to board and need some advice. i am planning on selling my laptop, however i have one major concern. i always do everything on line, including online banking, paying bills and buying stuff using my credit/debit cards. now, from what i understand i can never fully delete my personal info coz it is always somewhere on the system. i have been told to try window washer or evidence eliminator, but i really dont know if i can trust those programs. they may wreck the laptop.any advice is appreciated.

thanks.

Get DBAN. It securely erases everything on the harddrive. Then, reinstall Windows (provided you're selling the computer with Windows). All your personal data will be gone (forever I might add, so make sure anything you want to keep is off before you run DBAN).

Right mate what you want to do is find out the manufacturer of the hard drive that is in the laptop, then download their disc maintenance tools.

Perform a Low Level Format which writes !!!!!! to every sector on the drive, then format it back to NTFS and fresh install Windows. Make sure you have a disc for Windows because Low Level Formatting would destroy any recovery partitions, along with all of your data.

Only other option is to remove the hard drive and replace it.
