If I want to switch my electricity to british gas (ive already got gas with them)

however, im not sure how i switch to essentials tariff on the cashback sites

(essentials tariff)

Gas
tier 1 = 4.511 p/kwh
tier 2 = 2.763 p/kwh

Electricity
tier 1 = 14.412
tier 2 = 7.885

slightly better than the standard ive been on for years

Gas
tier 1 = 6.822
tier2 - 3.251

Electricity (though ive been on npowers standard)
tier 1 = 24.041
tier 2 = 9.655

The Essential is not a tariff you can switch to as you need to go through to the Home Energy Care team to see if you meet the criteria for it.

Yes, switching a single fuel to BG is only worth around 20.00 cashback atm, what you could do is switch a single fuel to SP ( assuming u arent already with them) for 40.00 cashback, as soon as its validated apply to switch to BG for whatever cashback is in force at the time.

Scottish Power highest is on Quidco atm which Topcashback and Cashback Kings/Rpoints will match upon a HCP claim.

£80 the now to go to SP then £40 to BG with quidco at the moment. I'm just waiting for the BG cashback to go up a bit first

are u tied into a contract with sp for any length of time if you do this?
otherwise making £120 sounds like a really good idea :)

As it can take 6 weeks to move supplier you would have no guarantee that the Essentials tariff would still be available when the supply moved to BG. Once an unknown allocation is met it could be withdrawn as before so should not be used to get any sales. You cannot be assessed until BG start supplying- not when a sale is actioned.

Not if you pick Online Energy ( Some of us go for No Standing Charge option) with Scottish Power and British Gas Standard tariff .......also 70.00 from EON via TCB ( Track And Save 2 has no exit penalties)

Depending on who you are with atm, if I was you I would go to British Gas via Eon and Scottish Power and in another posters words " trouser" the cashback at each port of call. ;)

Best cashback rates are usually found http://www.cashbackguide.org/
