    From experience reading tax credit queries, there are a few problems.

    1. The reckoner does work out the entire TC award, but only shows childcare. Assuming both incomes for that year are added together, there is no way the person would know their future CTC/WTC awards will reduce due to earnings.(I deliberately manipulated my input to create a basic CTC award of £545pa where the childcare would not come out at 80%)
    2. There should be something to tell people to input what will be their permanent annual incomes. The awards will in many cases be inflated for the first year or 2 due to a previous years income being used - this is better added at the end as a boost, rather than people getting a false sense of security by not realising the full impact.

    The article still doesn't point out that if you are a couple with a non working disabled person in it you still qualify for childcare help as long as the other person works 16 hours or more.
