Help Needed - Final stage of house price negotiation

You've got a good point, however the same could be said of their refusal to accept our offer over the same amount. It's all down to what the house is worth, not necessarily what the price was originally. That's what we think it is worth.0 -
£2500 is less than 1% of the total already offered, UNDER 1 PERCENT. Ring them up now and tell them to go for it. To risk losing something you "really like" for less than 1% is utter madness in my opinion.
It works both ways so tell that to the vendors and ask them do they want to lose a sale, in a buyers market, for less than 1%. This has happened to me in the past and I stuck it out only to find that there was no shortfall after all... just a vendors desire to feel they squeezed the last penny out of me (or not as it happened). ..... only the OP knows the full details of the negotiation and whether he should stick to his guns or not.0 -

Great news, they've just accepted my offer.
GWhiz, you were spot on. I just found out that they haven't even found the property they want to buy, so it was just a negotiation tactic after all. No hard feelings though, all's fair in love and business!
Hope the sale all goes to plan, after some of the bad news stories I've been reading about on this site my fingers will be crossed on that one.0 -
