May sound obvious, but not all 20p coins are worth £50!

Just a quick warning to anyone who might want to get hold of one of the erroneous 20p coins with no date on - make sure you know what you're buying!
I looked at ebay to see how much they are selling for and found this one. At the time of writing this, the bids are up to £23, but unfortunately the winning bidder is going to get a bit of a shock when he realises his 20p is worth, well, 20p. The collectable ones are of the new design and are from 2008 only.
The old 20p had the date on the 'tail' side, but the new design was to have the date on the Queen's side. This error on these coins has occurred when the old head (no date) was printed on the back of the new tail (also no date).
The coin in the link above is marketed as "undated on Queen's head side 2006" but all the 20p's in 2006 were undated on the Queen's side, because the date was on the tail!
If you're going to get one, make sure you are buying one with the new design on the tail and undated on the head!

Ha!!! It even says on the listing "the date is on the front, 2006"
I mean, if you're trying to buy an undated coin - don't get one that has the date on it!!I love surprises!0 -

Unfortunately you're right. Anything like this is going to wake the scammers up. The problem is he's making it sound like he doesn't know what he's doing:
"...20p with no date on the side with the queens head." - Well, yes, but it's meant to be like that.
"Im not a coin collector so im not sure if this is worth anything." - Absolute codswallop. He knows exactly what he's doing and knows that it's only worth face value, but's not going to stop him trying it on...No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
The highest bidder has only ever bid 12 times and 41% are with this seller (one bid on this item). I guess then he's decided to rip himself off or perhaps his mum.0

Has anyone reported it to stop anyone not as wise as 'MSExperts' getting diddled?0

I did a quick search on completed listings and saw that one of the 'I found it in my purse - understand its quite rare' routine got one seller £100.0

Ahh, a chancer, good luck to him if he gets someone to buy it!
I love an entrepreneurial spirit! This time next year Rodders.....;)Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
Ok lets make this simple for everyone lol:
20p with no date on either side = potentially £50
20p with a date on either side = 20p0
