Barclaycard to Barclaycard Platinum

I have had a standard Barclaycard for, well, ever, it has a low credit limit (my choice) and a balance of about £200 which I will have paid off in a couple of months. However, I recently realised I was paying 24.9% interest on this balance.
So I recently applied for the Barclaycard Platinum which has a much lower interest rate of 12.4%. I've been approved, the card has been sent to me and I've actually been informed that I have 0% on balance transfers for 12 months and 3 months 0% on purchases. I would like to transfer the balance from my standard Barclaycard over but was told today that Barclaycard couldn't do it.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could go about doing this? While I'm not in dire straits financially, I don't really have enough just to pay the card off in full so a transfer would be ideal. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Rather than directly paying it off, send your old card £200 to pay it off and then use your new card to buy your shopping, or something like that.0

Well, they sometimes send balance transfer chq but i think you have to be at least 3 months with them.
These chq can be paid into ur account and then used to settle your standard barclaycard0 -

You need to check your t&c, such cheques are generally considered on par with cash advance and hence the related interest will become applicable. Virgin is one for which such cheques not attract cash rates when you use it for BT.0 -
Good point, but i can confirm that barclaycard and even halifax sends out 0% chq to customers. But certianly not to new customersYou need to check your t&c, such cheques are generally considered on par with cash advance and hence the related interest will become applicable.
