Parking at Prestwick Town Rail Station

Hi - I'm planning to fly out of Prestwick International Airport soon.

Rather than pay to park my car at the airport, I am thinking about parking at Prestwick Town Rail Station, which Scotrail tell me is free and open 24 hours a day. It is just a 2 minute train journey from Prestwick International Airport and the train ticket costs just 50p each way.

Has anyone else tried this? It seems a bit too good to be true (i.e. why doesn't everyone try to do this? I'm assuming they don't otherwise they'd have started charging for the rail car park!!)

Thanks!

Lack of security perhaps? I mean it will probably be fine if youre going away for a couple of days, but anything longer than that, I would start to worry...

Try Watsons Ayr Park. Its only 5 mins away on the courtesy coach. You pre-book, drive in and get your allocated space, park up and you will either be picked up by the coach at your car or go to the waiting room. You keep your keys and everything. I think it is about £3 per day and I've never had any problems there.
