Renting out a room

I have decided to rent out a room and make some extra cash. Does anyone have any ideas on where to advertise? I have an ad on spareroom.co.uk so far but any other ideas, or inspiration would be most welcome.

  • Are you near a university? A lot of them have accommodation centres who will advertise the room for you as a bedsit/whatever, if you'd consider students.

    do you have any large businesses nearby? Ask if they have a notice board you could put a card on.

    Gumtree is very good for room rentals but be prepared for 2 unhelpful types of people:

    1) Weirdos

    2) People who want to rent something which in no way represents what you're offering- e.g. you have a room in a house advertised- they call looking to rent a 4 bed semi...
