Help with SD card slot in computer

Hi all, hope someone can help me - I'm tearing my hair out!!!
Got a new phone today which uses an SD card. My computer already has an SD card slot - I take the SD card out of my camera, put it into the slot allocated on my computer's cpu and a little device helper box pops up asking me what I want to do with the info on my sd card. However, this new fone has a micro sd card which the man in the shop gave me an adapter card for, effectively turning it into an sd card.
I used this to move music from my computer to my fone, and did this successfully. However, when removing it I righ-clicked and selected remove successfully, and it isn't till now that I realise I may have disconnected the reader, as my other SD card for my camera isn't reading at all and I can't get it to show up on the list of devices on my computer. :eek:Does anyone know how I can get this back to normal, ie recognising sd cards and automatically helping me to transfer files?
Thanks in advance
(ps sorry for rambling!)

Have you tried restarting your computer?0

You need to reboot the computer - that should sort it out, you probably stopped the card reader itself instead of stopping the card that was in it.0

Press and release the on button on the computer, that should shut the computer down, then re-start it.
You must look at what was written in the postings above, the word un-install NEVER appeared.0 -
if you pressed uninstall, reboot the computer it should find any new hardware and replace the drivers.
note if you set up the all-in-one card reader as quick removal, right click on the drive letter that is associated with the sd card, each slot is allocated a drive letter, 5 slots= 5 letters, right click and select eject, you do not need to select remove safely from the taskbar.
5 slots, aka MMC/SD = I: drive CF/compact flash = J:, Memory Stick Pro (MS PRO) = K: etc
or whatever they are, just select the drive letter after you have finished using it, allow about 1min to allow any disc usage to stop before removing the card.
TO reinstall the drivers if you have uninstalled them, reboot the computer it should say found new hardware, and search for the old drivers and then ask you to reboot again afterwards.0
