Can somebody please help.
Last September i bought a Tefal Steam Generator from electrical shopping direct, this iron has become faulty wherby the cord is stuck and the watertank is leaking. I contacted the company however in order to repair the item i have to pay £8.00 for them to pick the item up. I have written to them stating i am unwiling to pay as i paid £190.00 for the iron and £6.95 for the delivery. I havent heard back. I paid for the iron with a credit card however i have cancelled that card am i still able to claim my money back from the credit card company and if yes please can somebody tell me how to?

Ring up the card company and ask them to submit a claim.
Do you know you defintiely aren't liable for the delivery charge?
I'm not passing judgement, jsut asking if you've checked on that first.0 -
I would expect to pay to send it back. If like you say it cost you £190.00 then £8.00 isn't a huge portion of the total cost.
If you bought it from Currys and drove to the store to return it would you expect them to pay your petrol? I doubt it! You just choose to buy off the Internet instead.0 -
You're probably going to be out of time on the chargeback - I believe you only have 180 days from the date of purchase. As Peeky says, £8 isn't a large amount to pay for postage, especially since it's quite a heavy item.0

thanks for that...I guess i was disputing teh charges as i was tld by tradng standards that i am not liable for the delivery charges...I guess ill have to begrudginly pay.0

You could go through the small claims track in the county court.
i.e. write to them by recorded delivery (75p) and tell them that unless you hear from them within 10 waorkign days that you'll be claiming £190 via the small claims court.
I think you are right but it depends how much agro you want really.
I believe they can request the case is heard in their locality, so sorry but you might be better off paying the £8 unless their head office is nearby and you don't mind travelling to it and have the free time to go to court.0 -
thanks for all your reply....i thnk i might be better off just paying the charges0

Court action will be frowned on by a judge for waisting there time, with anything normaly it has a rtn to base warranty which you have to pay the postage for it isnt that much really.0
