my son has won a place in a golf comp at st andrews
does anyone know of any cheap CLEAN accomodation pref self catering near st andrews
i tried the university and its £103 per room per night with breakfast mind you but want to cut that down
travelodge £50 per night but could do with cooking facilities if poss

When is the competition? I don't know anywhere specific, you'll have probably thought about these already but a couple of things to try could be -
There are lots of student flats in town, probably a lot have spare rooms going over the summer holidays - might be worth checking this out ( not sure how easy that would be from a distance but maybe try on the student board or the local ( Scotland) board on here? )
Also I see there's a youth hostel place here if he doesn't mind sharing a room http://www.standrewshostel.com/index.html, again no personal experience of it but it might be somewhere to start. I know the location it describes on the site and it is very central.
Hope he finds somewhere.
Edited to add - about ease of catering - the hostel is a minute's walk from a Tesco which has decent opening hours, also it's above a restaurant ( The Grill House).0
