take the bus to porto pollensa...its lovely or hire a car and get around majorca...driving is easy and there are so many nice places away from the tourists. Palma is worth a visit.
nice walk around old town of alcudia...otherwise just found it like any other busy spanish resort.x x x0 -
Alcudia is a large resort and Alucia Pins is quite a way from the centre of it. You will probably need to hire bikes, catch the bus or get a taxi to get to the centre.
Having said that there are plenty of bars and places to eat near to the Pins. The apartments are situated right on the beach and the beach at Alcudia is beautiful.
The central resort area is full of bars and eating places, there are so many I am sure you'll find plenty.
The old town is a lovely walled town and it is here that the market is held (I think its on a Sunday).
There is also a nice lagoon area close to the Belle Vue apartments in the resort centre where they use to have jet skis etc.
There is also a nice nature reserve to walk, cycle and watch wildlife in if you like that type of thing.
Alcudia although large is a really nice place. Yes you can get the bus to Pollensa, Palma etc. however if your only there for a week I'm sure there will be enough for you to do in Alcudia itself.
If you get bitten by midgies be careful and take plenty of protection. Because it is very green in this area you can be bothered by them.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we have in the past.0 -
Alcudia is built on a swamp. Take mosquito repellant.
I found prices comparitively high for Majorca for food and drink ( more expensive than in the south). The beach is nice, but the whole resort is poorly designed with no proper centre and no prom to walk on beside the beach. You spend all the time walking along very busy roads. The canals look like open sewers ( and smell like them).
It would expect it to be quiet at this time of year. I would not be surprised if much of it is closed. The season does not start until May ( its not one of the winter resorts). A friend went late October a few years ago and many restaurants were closed.0 -
There was a prom at Alcudia last time I was there. We stayed in the Alcudia Sunwing. The prom ran right along the beach from outside the hotel to the old port. There is no need to walk along busy roads. There is a good path, also the beach is lovely and flat to walk along. The canal areas have good paths all along them and are lovely on a night time. I have only ever been out of season from October-May and always found it good.We have been in November before and yes in November almost all of the new resort is closed, however in October and May it has always been fine. Even in November/December the port area and the old town stay open, as this is where the locals go. Yes if you just want the British bars etc. in the main resort area, they do close. In my opinion the port area and old town are far more attractive places.0
