Hello Everyone,
Hope you areenjoying the fine weather.
I have an odd question and am not sure if it is even do-able:-
My car is 11 1/2 years old (BMW bought new) and probably worth £1k. I really love it and the repairs have been minimal over the past and it work fine (touch wood). The thing is I want to keep it forever (!) but if someone crashes into me I would only receive £1K tops and it would cost a lot more to fix it so they would write it off.
Is there any type of insurance i could get that would pay more? I am paying quite a high insurance (not for any reason except idiocy) anyway which I plan to change in August when its up for renewal?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Meenu

Best scheme is probably to put some money by and then plan to buy the car off the insurers when they write it off.
I believe they will often let you have the car if you want to repair it yourself.
You just need to be financially prepared.I know that there's probably a lot of sentimental value in the car
I think it's more than sentimental personally.
Some cars are reliable and good examples and have been looked after. Others are real lemons or have been neglected.
Often, particularly with older cars, this is not fully reflected in the financial value.
i.e. the saying "it's worth more to me on the road".
So people that have a good realiable example want to keep it and that is more than sentimental.
However there isn't a product for this.
You need to "self insure" i.e. put some money in a bank account for the eventualiaty.0
