Ordered & Paid For DVD Players But Received Ladies T-Shirts...

Morning all.
On Friday I took delivery of an order I placed for myself and a few friends to make the most of a "the more you buy the higher the discount" offer and to keep P&P costs down for 8 portable DVD players. The order was delivered in a box and a separate bag. On opening I have found that the box contains 3 DVD players (great!) and a matching packing slip, but when I opened the bag I found 5 ladies t-shirts and a packing slip that indicates the contents should be the other 5 DVD players.
I rang the company concerned straight away who said all they could do was take the details and email them to someone else and I would receive a call back. In the past, this company used to deal with problems straight away on the phone, so I can't help but wonder if they are now using some sort of receptionist system that handles calls for multple companies and emails details to be dealt with later.
In any case, I never heard back until 21:10pm on Sunday when I was out and about (as I had been since around 9:00am). Basically the long and short of it was the guy didn't seem to think it was possible for that sort of mix up and wanted to know if I still had the bag they came in. At that stage I thought I did, and said I would email he the barcode number he wanted off the bag when I got home. Once I was home at 21:30pm, to my horror I found that the bag was actually taken to the tip earlier that day, but I still have the packing slips which include a return address label with the same barcode number (and the t-shirts themselves of course).
I emailed the company yesterday evening to explain the above and have provided them with the barcode number from the label, but I now have a horrible feeling they are going to use the lack of the original back as a get out, but won't know until I hear back from them. He suggested I would be called back late this afternoon or sometime during the evening today.
Basically wondering where I stand on this one, and what I can do if they try and get out of it? I have paid on my credit card, and assumed I would be covered via that route if all else fails. Don't really want to be standing the cost of 5 DVD players for 5 ladies t-shirts...
Thanks in advance for any advice; I'll let you know how this progresses.
Cheers,

You ordered 8 DVD players but only received 3.
Just because you lost the packaging doesn't mean you should be out of pocket for 5 DVD players.
Insist they collect the tshirts and send the DVD players.
Can't think of what else to suggest as I can't really see the problem.0 -
Thanks for your reply; those are exactly my thoughts but they don't seem keen to deal with the problem and have not called me back today as promised. I have just done the tracking based on the barcodes on the packing slip return labels, and sure enough all three tally up as being delivered at the same time so I don't see they have any cause for complaint.
I plan to ring them again in the morning and if I can't speak to anyone directly about the matter I will call my credit card company and see if they can help.
Will post back when I have made some progress.
Cheers,
