BT line rental paid by DD every quarter

My father is currently on BT LUS but he doesn't qualify for BT Basic so we are fearing the worst and he will be transferred to their 'normal' service. The BT site is an object lesson in how to confuse IMO. He refuses to go paper-free and currently pays his LUS bill quarterly by DD. Any idea how much his 'normal' line rental will come to when/if he does get transferred? Is it £12.75 a month?
TIA

There is an existing thread about BT Light User and the new BT Basic: many people on LUS have received a letter from BT with a tear-off application for the unlimited Evenings & Weekends calling plan. If they ignore this, they get transferred automatically to BT Basic, without needing to qualify by being in receipt of certain benefits.
Apparently OFCOM will not permit BT to close down LUS until there are at least 600,000 people on the new BT Basic. This is only cheap if you really don't make many calls, so does not suit a lot of people. This is a theory!
I would just wait and see what happens: BT Basic is £4.50 per month of which £1.50 is an allowance for phonecalls.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Yes, but doesn't that equate to just 15 mins of calls per month on the ridiculous tariff rates on Basic? Or 15 one second calls? I'd better dig out his last bill because I think my father probably makes too many calls for Basic to be a viable option. Thanks for the info, btw.Call me Carmine....

BT "standard" line rental with DD and paper bills is now £12.50 per mnth since price rise in April - you can get free evening and weekend calls IF you sign up to rolling 12 month contract I think, but daytime calls are really expensive with an 8p CONNECTION CHARGE!!!0
-
Yes line rental with paper billing is £12.50 a month.
See: http://calls.bt.com/ppc/calls/?categoryId=CON-HOME-PHN-R1&s_cid=con_ppc_zedmedia_google_vidSE7_callsandlines_bt%20calls_Broad&vendorid=SE7
You can avoid the expensive peak time call charges by using www.18185.co.uk and pay just 5p a call to 01/02/03 numbers.0 -
I signed a 18month contract for £11.25 month when I bring up my calling plan this is the amount stated. However since price increase I have been charged £40.30 (£13.43 month) for advance payment for June July & Aug.when I phoned told would get discounts to offset this on next bill(they cann`t give dicounts on advance payments. Can anyone tell me are BT allowed to advertise that it would cost a figure that can only be achieved by a discount given at a later date. Is this practice legal. I do not feel that it is fair that I give this extra money to BT for 3 months (OF course the advance payment is ongoing so I can never catch up)
BT should be made to make their bills clear not discounts for this and that so customers dont have a clue as to the price they are paying
Any ideas if I could take this further, Office of fair trading of the telephone regulator perhaps.

Why not Switch to Monthly Whole Bill Direct Debit - where you pay the exact amount owing to BT each month (and which also prevents a 'credit' building up on your account),and you should get your discounts.0

Thanks Ypaymore but can you tell me how I change to Monthly Whole Bill payment .
Also can anyone tell me if it would be better for me to change to BT anytime plan I paid over £22 in call charges on last bill As I said in my previous post I am on BT evening and weekend plan which is due to expire on 31st July.0 -
Hi duckwing
I can change you to Monthly Whole Bill Direct Debit if you wish, just reply to my PM with your bt telephone and account number.. The Anytime Plan may be suitable for you if you make a lot of daytime calls. The Unlimited Anytime Plan gives you inland (local and national) UK calls at zero pence per minute, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for up to an hour per call, plus 200 texts per month and up to 43% off call rates to UK mobiles. The Anytime Plan is £5.95 per month in additon to your line rental or £4.95 if you choose the 12 month renewable contract. A self-service option to order this product is available on https://www.bt.com/choices.
Cheers

Hi BT representative
I am having difficulty with PM it says I have one (is this from you) and to click to view then a box says it cannot display I assume I could have clicked somewhere to reply to this.
I got a letter telling me contract due to expire end of July and giving me a number 0800 345 7309 to ring if I want to cancel Can I use the same number to make changes to my plan and billing or is this a automated service
Thanks for your help0 -
Hi duckwing
Not sure who that PM was from as I didn't send you a PM. I can confirm that 0800 345 7309 is not an automated number and that it will connect you to an advisor who can set you up on your required plan.
