Seeboard outrageous charge & a happy story!

Hi all,

Just a note about the fact we finally, finally won our battle with Seeboard 3 weeks ago and here's the story to see if it helps anyone else:

Moved in April 04, using Economy 7 heating for the 1st time. Gave Seeboard our reading, paid quarterly bills on time etc (around £120).

November 04, gave another reading. Aug 05 gave further reading as we'd forgotten to do so, and they said we'd get a bill as we hadn't been paying enough with estimated charges. At this point in August we also arranged for a DD each month, rather than quarterly, of £33.

The bill that arrived in September was (wait for it!) £852 quid, one off bill, over and above our previous payments.

We knew we should have given readings, but still felt that £852 was way over as a lump sum. We queried this through September - February 2006. Seeboard gave in and reduced bill to £350!!! :j

However, we were still not trusting their amount, as they'd removed £500ish from the amount due, so we said we'd contact Energywatch if they did not reduce further. As they did not, we complained online via Energywatch website.

In March, after Energywatch looked into it, Seeboard again adjusted our bill to £264 and gave us an extra 10% off as well for the inconvenience.

In the end, we paid £238 - a massive £612 difference from the original bill!

Had we been an elderly couple that just trusted Seeboards reading, we would have paid up the £850 as they made it sooo hard for us in the end. I also know someone who used to work @ Seeboard and she advised that sometimes they send out these bills without checking, as they have so many customers.

Lesson learnt - I will always supply readings, and will not give up until I have tried every avenue I can - consumers revenge!

If this helps one person, it will be another victory ;)
