I am currently using (a nearly non-working) one which has the following:
INPUT: 100-240V~1.3.06A
OUTPUT: 19V --- 4.74A
can I use another power supply with these stats?:
INPUT: 100-240V~,50-60Hz 1.7A
OUTPUT: 20V --- 3.25A
Usually best to use the same as is stated on the bottom of the laptop, unless you want to blow the laptop. Its the OUTPUT on the power that matters not the input, the output is what actually powers the laptop, I would say NO, due to the fact the output is 1.50amps less than the one currently in use. Might not be powerful enough, and that could cause damage to both the adapter and laptop.0 -

jeese,
well ebuyer have this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/102994 for £24.99
and i recently due to my 450watt psu that came with my pc case so therefore under warranty had a upgrade to a 550watt, the same as my sister bought for her's, which i was sent to get
replaced my sisters 450watt with one of these,
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-PSU550 £21.85, sister got her's for £18 at the time. price has gone up slightly
how good are they, replaced 2 years ago on my sisters computer, and so damn quiet, but her system was, had to double check it was actually running thats how quiet.0 -

Edit: Just found this on the bottom of the laptop:

I very seriously doubt you'd do any damage even if it is different by 1 volt, the internal voltage regulation would take care of that.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

branded as Ebuyer Extra Value, so its not branded, but according to the posts its a good PSU.
the other PSU the one i got is a WIN Power but thats because Novatech sell that brand as there own, its a generic PSU.0 -
win power...ah,there's a manufacturer famous for trapping genies in its capacitors ...or I think they're genies ...they appear with a CRACK flash and a puff of smoke..and then they are gone

..and yes, when I was younger and foolisher I did see the genies leave...I have a box full of old motherboards + CPUs (and 1GPU) that the genies played with before they left
I would consider a low-end PSU for a budget build if there was no choice...but I certainly wouldn't use one myself! Regular, stable voltages = long lasting components = stable machinesUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
Making a comparison without extensive testing would be nearly impossible, but there is one rather telling detail in the specifications for that unit:
Now, compare that with the Corsair HX520W:MTBF 50,000 Hours @ 25 degrees
Leaving aside the difficulty of maintaining an ambient temperature of 25°C, this means the Corsair should theoretically last twice as long.MTBF: 100,000 Hours0 -
My coolermaster PSUs came with a 5 year warranty...that kinda gives me a clue that they expect them to last a while

I ran a Nvidia 6600gt G/card on a 300w psu & it would sometimes overheat or even crash so i managed to get my hands on a 450w psu which does the business, it runs the g/card effortlessly & the comp runs great. I even now run neons in the case aswell of the 450w psu as it copes brill. You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0
