I'll swap you beanie - it's like opening the oven door when you step outside. I just went outside to put some stuff in the recycling bin, it's mega hot, but bizarrely showers tomorrow

Actually, as Itype this, thesun has gone in for a few seconds and I've just peeked round the curtain and there are some wite clouds gathering - it's definitely getting a bit hazy. The radio said it would be 19 overnight. I've got a paper thin throw with a tiny amount of stuffing in it I put on the bed last night, the quilt was far too heavy.

Sammy, I know how you feel. DH washed the dishes this morning so he's well grumpy cos it's his day off and he's had to spend it doing housework all day. I just told him welcome to the real world, but it didn't go down too well :eek:Too much month, not enough Cash!

BB - have you thought about looking at something like this for your garden?
Someone would use the space, you'd get a share of what they grow - I know that they're crying out for land....think of all that lovely fresh veg!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
BB you were right, informal interview, I wont tell you how informal:rolleyes:
But I have a job in September, and I am going to write that letter tomorrow for that additional role after talking myself in, back out and then back in again.
I might need your help though, application forms yes, letters of application I struggle with I hate a blank screen.
I have heard that loads of people will be putting in for these roles so I need a good-un. If anyone thinks they can help me I would appreciate it:oBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -

We can all help
I find the best thing with the blank bit where you write about yourself is to start with a paragraph which describes yourself with your key strengths. The bull shiiite management speak bit :rotfl:
I then use the person spec and give examples of what I've done (however far back!) so it shows that I have done everything they want.
I finish it with a enthusiastic sounding paragraph about the desire to fully utilise my skills and experience yadda yadda

Thanks BB, I am going to start with the personal specs I think and then fill in the yadda yadda bits later (these are the bits I struggle with acutally)

here's a couple I used for jobs I went for recently if you want to pick any bits out and use - it's all yadda yadda bollox at the end of the day:
For the senior manager job I went to (and they didn't appoint anyone after being there all day )
'My career to date has taken me to a number of senior managerial roles which I am now looking to move back into, whilst bringing with me many years of working within local government or public facing organisations which often face sensitive or confidential issues and situations. I would sum up my key skills as being a competent manager, an excellent corporate communicator, an experienced researcher, being extremely customer service driven and someone with 15 years Public Relations and Marketing experience. I also think I have a sympathetic ear and an empathetic nature.'
or (second paragraph from another application for a trainers post which involved e-learning)
'I would sum up my key skills as being a competent manager (of both people and workload), an extremely organised and thorough administrator, an excellent report and copy writer, a confident presenter and positive and learner orientated trainer. I also think I have a sympathetic ear and an empathetic nature. I am creative and enthusiastic and have a love of all things e-technology based. On a personal level, I am an ardent learner who enjoys the mental challenge of gaining knowledge.'
or (for a post in a school as a support services manager with a lot of admin. and deadline keeping in the post)
'I would describe myself as a manager who is organised, innovative, creative, hard working and an excellent negotiator and problem solver.
I have excellent administrative skills and am used to handling a high workload. I am an excellent time keeper and I am never late for work or for meetings. I feel keeping to deadlines is essential.
My jobs over the years have brought me into contact with a wide range of people and groups and I am as happy dealing with a senior company director as I am a resident with a complaint.'
