Agreed, thanks from me too :TCoupon-mad wrote: »My local store allow 3 coupons against your shopping (which can be duplicates and you don't have to buy the magazine), so that's £9 each time against maybe a £10 shop, for a couple of days. Lovely!
I wish mine did too, the Sheffield branch rarely takes any unless you buy the product

My local store allow 3 coupons against your shopping (which can be duplicates and you don't have to buy the magazine), so that's £9 each time against maybe a £10 shop, for a couple of days. Lovely!
Cheers again for the info. :T:A
Hi Coupon Mad, I must be missing something but why is it not ok at tesco but ok at waitrose? What do waitrose do that tesco don't?0 -
Just used a Vanity Fair coupon in waitrose - barcode is very small - didn't scan - had to be typed in by SA!
urbankoala - the voucher does not include tesco in the list of where the coupon is accepted, where as Sainsbury's, WHSmith and Waitrose is. It does also say "independent stores" - and before discussion has taken place to argue that Tesco is an independent store, but imo Tesco has purposefully been left out of the list and I would not use it in tesco as I strongly believe it could have a negative impact on my store's future coupon policy.0 -

I don't know for sure, but I suspect Tesco won't get the money back. I suspect that in the past they have had received more vouchers relating to magazines than the quantities acutally sold which shows the manufacturer they are taking the coupons against other products - particularly if coupons are redeemed by the stores/regions individually rather than from Tesco as a whole (maybe a tesco worker could offer an answer). So either the manufacturer has decided not to let Tesco be a part of the promotion, or maybe Tesco have asked not to be - so they don't lose out on the money from accepting more coupons than they have stock when they try to redeeem them. Either way - £3 per coupon is quite a big hit - either for the manufacturer or Tesco.
So next question may be - why is Waitrose still included when they have a similar policy - and my answer would be that Waitrose don't get the same volume of coupons that Tesco do, due to them not having as many stores or shoppers, and therefore the abuse hasn't been an issue for them (yet!) - although I have had magazine coupons refused before - it's SA dependent - and I never contest it - I just put them back in my purse for another SA, another day - as I do not want the coupon policy to be revised!!!!
If you want to give it a try in Tesco, but don't want to risk the coupon policy being revised, maybe it would be best to drop by the customer service desk on arrival at the store and ask if they accept that specific coupon (showing them it at the same time so they can read the T&C's) - and go from there?
I accept this is just my opinion, and others may differ, hope it helps0 -

No, that's the point, Tesco won't get anything for it. Waitrose will.
You'd get your money off, as it would scan - it seems sad dog lady inadvertently used one at Tesco (but then so would a Sainsburys or Superdrug-specific coupon scan if it had a 99 barcode). But such coupons are bounced back to the store's cash office, by the clearing house, unpaid.
A few too many 'bouncing coupons' and that'll be the end of the coupon policy in your local store. It's happened at many other stores and I for one value the coupon policy at my locals.
I have checked more than once - about previous similarly restricted coupons - at my local Tesco stores. I showed such coupons to the Till Managers, when I got an opportunity, and asked an open question as to whether it is redeemable. I thought not but wanted to hear what they had to say about them (I had got them specifically to use at Waitys, as I did today).
Both local stores said no because of the t&cs naming other stores but not Tesco. Both stores are very coupon-friendly BTW.
