External USB Hard Drive

Is it possible to use an external USB 2.0 Hard drive to be your primary hard drive.I've tried going into the bios and changing the boot up sequence but the computer seems to hang?????

You can but have you an OS on the USB HDD as the PC would need an OS to work.

Also some USB drives are seen as a CD drive

Just double check that the Boot Sequence is correct and Have a look at your voltage alarm settings in the BIOS. It could be that the (slight) extra load of the active device is causing the voltage to sag and crash the start-up sequence
