Not defending but for someone who is a multi-millionaire and shops in harrods £85 for something as mundane as a sandwich is not a lot.
I mean I was looking at a magazine in the Dr's waiting area today. It was jasper conran and in was a wooden rowing machine (I kid you not fully working)for over a £1000
I have been in to harrods and I have bought something. But it was on sale and was what my husband wanted and cost £9.99.
I would love to have that sort of money to being to spend £85 on a sandwich. But would rather have afternoon tea at the ritz's which I think is about the same price for two as one sandwich from Harrods.
But some people just have more means than others. If they can afford it and think it is value for money for them why not. Not much more you can really say. Apart from if they want to waste £85 on a sandwich just give me the money I will make much better use of it. :rotfl:

Thought the one I bought from the local deli was expensive at £2.70, but it was massive and packed with salad, goats cheese and red onion marmalade
red onion marmalade????!!!!!! you couldnt pay me £85 to eat a sandwich like that.
good food costs good money, id buy it, but i dont eat meat!.
personaly id spend money on good quality food rather then eg. an armani jumper, beer, beauty products or anything else, that isnt a neccessity, like food is. we all have to eat, so why not treat our bodies, rather then treat our ego's.0 -
I could offer HM bread, slow cooker gammon, HM green tomato chutney ... dessert of HM yoghurt tricked with honey ....
... and bread and breakfast (oats, fruit and HM yoghurt plus orange juice) and make a lovely profit for £85 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Enjoying an MSE OS life

It's funny though that when I was working at Imperial College, I found that the ordinary sandwiches in Harrods were cheaper than the ones in the University shop!!2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0

I read the title of the thread and thought someone was going to say that they'd popped to the supermarket to buy a sandwich and ended up spending £85 on other things ... see that I could empathise with!
However, £85 for a sandwich, for that I'd want George Clooney AND Robbie Williams to feed it to me crumb by crumb ......GC - March 2024 -0
