unfurnished rental?

Hey all
I am looking at moving into rented accomodation soon. I've seen places advertised as 'unfurnished', or 'part-furnished'. Do these both include white goods, eg cooker, fridge, washing machine?
TIA

we have rented a few places unfurnished allways had a cooker sometimes a fridge sometimes a washing machine, I dont think there is a hard and fast rule.0

You really need to check with each one. Houses we've rented as unfurnished have varied from having no cooker  to a place with a kitchen with integrated fridge and freezer, and a dishwasher.:T
Usually the property particulars will say something like "space for washing machine" "plumbing for gas cooker" which would indicate you need your own, or "built in oven" which obviously will stay there.I refuse to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent:rolleyes:0 -
There's no strict definition. The only way to know is to inspect yourself, ask, or check the inventory. Never take anything for granted.0

the ones i looked (and have took) were part furnished, they normally came with a cooker, fridge/freezer (or one of those mini fridges with a small box freezer compartment). most have included a washing machine but not all.
ask when you go to view the property or it normally says in the ad :-)has been around for a while but always learning,0 -
imo part-furnished usually comes with a fridge & sometimes washing machine, but unfurnished is often *very* empty. Viewed flats without even a cooker, although never rented one in the end (have bought own fridge, however, but then left it in flat per agreement with LL when I left).0

We always rent unfurnished and all the places we looked at had at a minimum: cooker, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Some also had a dishwasher. I haven't see any that were totally lacking white goods. The house we're living in at the moment also included a lawnmower and a range of garden tools to maintain the garden with.
Comparing my experiences with previous responses on this thread just goes to show that there really is no standard definition as it probably depends what type of place you are looking for (budget/style) and the local market. I would always say look very closely and if the property description is not clear or its in any way ambiguous then ask and don't sign anything until you get a clear answer - in writing if necessary!0 -
I think white goods are expected in most un-furnished places nowadays but as people have said you do need to check. Don't immediate discount a property if it doesn't have something as its always worth asking the agent/landlord for something to be put in or taken out.0

Thanks all!
