I don't remember if you said if you have a butchers near you, but if you do, it's worth buying a gammon or beef joint to make meat for sandwiches. It works out much cheaper than buying packs of ham/beef slices etc. You can cook it, slice it up and then freeze the slices in sandwich sized portions.0

excellent idea.
I bought a frozen tesco finest turkey last month for a £5(£20 at Christmas I think) roasted it and sliced the breast, used the brown meat for curry and a la king.

Afternoon everyone - a quick update as I don't seem to have posted for a while - current spend is now £336.12 - which leaves me a little under £50 to cover the next 13 days.
I'm not sure if I'll manage, but if I do go over it won't be by much as I intend to stock up on milk before the Tesco 65p offer ends on Thursday, and I've just filled the freezer with reduced bread, so that'll be two of my big spends covered, and I've got most cooked meals already in the freezer.
The kids are emptying the fruit bowl as fast as I can fill it, which has made a dent in the budget this last week - but I don't mind going over because of the healthy stuff, so long as I stay in/under budget on the cakes and crisps.
I'm in the process of stripping the pantry out at the moment - discovered damp/mildew in there, and lost all of my baking ingredients along with some boxes of cereals etc, so am in the process of swapping the pots/pans etc from the kitchen cupboards with the packets/boxes from the pantry - at least if the damp gets them I can wash them again. It does mean however that I'm building quite a big restock list - but that'll have to wait for next month - shame really as those cookies look nice.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Just adding on todays spend of £4.57 for 2 tubes of garlic puree, milk & bread. I'm going to do my shopping list soon ready for when I go on Wednedsay. The children aren't doing too bad so far with constant eating although the older 3 have hardly been at home  so no doubt they'll make up for it when they are.
I'm on the look out for savoury snacks if anyone has any ideas? I make a cheese & onion flan and leave it in the fridge which goes down well, but I wouldn't mind any other ideas0 -
Ok found my receipt. Adding another £22.81 to my total so its highly unlikely I will meet my target this month but will have a lot of basics for next month so its not a total disaster ............
Ok so it is but can only try harder next month :rolleyes:Emma
Aug GC - £88.17/£130
NSD - target 18 days, so far 5!!0 -
Spent €30 over the weekend, brings my spend to €203.63, leaving me with €86.37 until 31st, not happy about that as I reckon I could and should have been more careful!

Just updated signature - last done on 16th.
Now includes another 3 litres of milk (takes us to 11 litres so far this month, and will need more tomorrow) and 2x12 bread rolls (each pack whoopsied from £1.63 to 40p) which was all bought on 18th.
The other 3 days have been NSDs, taking me to 11 so far this month (against a best to date of 15 in May).
Now close enough to two-thirds of the way through the month (64.52%), and am 46.53% of the way through my monthly budget.
I'm going to be doing my first (stocking up) shop for August this next week - even though my budget for that month doesn't officially start until 1st Aug - which means I need to meal plan for next month in the next couple of days......
I have a £2 off a £20 spend voucher for Mr T (till spit from last Thursday) which has to be used no later than Sunday, plus a 'double your points' voucher that came in a mailshot (to be used by end August) so needs a 'decent' shop to use it on :rolleyes2
I also have a £10 Mr T gift card (reward from a survey site which arrived on Friday), and another on the way which was ordered 6 days later (when a couple more surveys cleared into my account) - so will potentially get the first £22 worth of food for free, and should be able to comfortably cover the rest from this months budget (plus I was £58.40 in credit on my annual budget at the end of June, so also have that to 'play' with if necessary).Cheryl0
