Thanks for all the hugs - am feeling a lot better now!
Have just got back from the town and purchased the essential items we'd run out of:
Wilkos - Colgate triple stripe pump - 97p - bargain
Mr T
4 x loo roll - £1.29
Tomato ketchup - 82p
Green apples x 7 - 69p
4 pk warburton teacakes - whoopsied 28p
12 pk own brand sliced rolls - whoopsied 38p
2 x 6pk potato cakes - whoopsied - 18p each
so a total spend today of £4.79. Although some of the whoopsed items weren't on my radar, they will come in handy for the school hols when we take packed lunches out with us. Didn't get any laundry tablets - these will have to wait until my July GC ends on Sunday - what a shame! I won't be able to do any washing until then - tee hee :rotfl:

Eek, I was going to have a no spend day, but the butcher van came around, and he specifically knocked. I couldnt resist, I bought 6 of his homemade sausages, at £2.91. Not cheap! (But they are lovely sausages, and I am all on my own this weekend.!). I will make Toad in the Hole for myself tonight. Put a couple in the slow cooker, with vegetables and make a sausage casserole for tomorrow. Which will leave me a couple to eithr eat in a sandwich, or have a cooked breakfast with an egg, tomato, and the rest of the baked beans from my tea the other day.!
So I will make it last. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi everyone,
AB appears to have some sort of problem with housewives and regularly trolls the Old Style board, rarely giving good advice and often posting in a derogatory and patronising tone towards the posters here.
In my opinion he wants to disrupt threads and is probably best ignored. Leave him to play with himself.

knowing the average british housewife:rolleyes: errr care to explain? Isn't that a bit like saying knowing the average Greek/ Pole/Indian which of course is utter rubbish!
How many of these average housewives do you know and where can I find one?0 -

Afternoon all
Just to update the spends, MRS M NEED TO DECLARE AT £367.74 FOR JULY AND SIGN UP FOR £350 FOR AUGUST MANY THANKS. Spent £97.41 in MrA's today had a reasonable amount for the money. 1 child finishes today and 1 Monday so after that no pack-up's for hols - hooray! Only have 2 weeks before we go on hols so shouldn't need to buy too much between now and then. Have menu planned for next week - but doesn't always pan out the way we hope in the hols - so just have to steer clear of fast food places!
Hope everyone has a good weekend, have had several hard downpours here and thunder and lightning and power cut but now sunny.
Take care

re comparing us to France, I wastold much the same about Italy: well, yes, they do have lots of good fresh veg and great markets, but just as much packet junk as us too: also, the veg range is different, which is refreshing to english eyes.
ANYWAY: OP, I find my budget seems so easy to stick to when I shop to a menu plan, when left overs can be predicted and made use of.
I tend to rough plan 10 ays-two weeks in advance (I shope twice a week, for other reasons) and take he menu plan with shopping list incorporated. Because its a longish plan, I can shuffle according to any incredible discounts/offers without upsetting the whole plan, because I can se it in front of me. It might be that somethinggets knockd off, but I can se wht other things would be impacted.
Well done OP, for one thing al that wasted stuff is demoralising and an extra burden because it taks time to dispose of.0 -
it certainly does hannah thanks ...when i get around to doing housework (sigh) i will deff have a wee look in the cupboards and see what they contain ...
paulgee thanks will keep an eye on the charity shops we have a few in the village i live in ...i'll see what they throw up
bob it does sound weird thinking about ss that way doesnt it ...nice weird but weird ...he is such a gem ...how is z? does he come on much?
well yesterday i just had one corn on the cob so i had the second one for lunch today ...but landed up buying salsa at 79p a jar today .... i am sure i can make this for cheaper but a) i dont know how to and b) can you freeze it ? i was thinking while i bought it ...i wonder if i could make this myself and if i could how much would i need etc unfortunatlely i havnt had a minute to myself in the last few days due to work and having to go for appointments etc ...i am night shift this weekend as well so if the dongle works then i can do some research but if it doesnt then i am stuck ...
right todays plan for eating is the last of the scrambled tofu with a corn on the cob and a couple slices of bread ...already had some porridge and had lunch at a friends so that was a) very nice and b) a saving ...i actually sat in my friends house today and thought hey i have saved some money having lunch here ...then i felt soooo guilty for even thinking that ....
i think this whole process is going to take some getting used to ...
i chatted to hubby the other night about things again he was concerned about his drink ...which is understandable ...so i asked him how much he thought he needed to have he said he was going to try for drinking just one night ...so i figured out that will cost 85p a day off the total so i explained this to him and he said i am agoing to give up and i was like eh no ...now is not the time to even think about that we will find the 85p a day ...i think he felt relieved lol
anyway thanks for keeping helping me it feels so much better having company for a journey ...advice and support are always invaluable in life ...cheers0 -
I did a greatly satisfying shop in Mr M's. The total was £37.34 after using £6 PC vouchers and a £4 off when you spend £40 voucher. There were £7.95 worth of multi-saves and loads of whoopsied meat which has all gone in the frezer.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
