Having meal planned for 5 weeks (starting last Saturday and ending on 31st July) I printed out a copy, which combined with a printed copy of my freezer contents I used to compile my shopping list for yesterday.

Anyhow, DS wandered into the kitchen this afternoon, spotted the meal plan document, picked it up, cheekily asked "so what's for tea this time next month", glanced at the list - and did a double take as he realised it did actually go that far :rotfl:

So he's scanned through it, raised no strong objections to anything (though I know there's a couple he's not madly keen on), and stuck it up on my freezer..... so it looks like he's buying into the idea of meal planning :T

Need to add some to my spend so far - popped into the Co-op on the way to collect eldest from Beavers and timed it just right for the chill cabinet final reductions - 4 packs of sausages for 35p each (were on my list for the month anyway), 18 fromage frais for 80p, which deals with pudding for a few days, a half price bag of bagels and a pack of 'posh' chicken for 30p (2 days packed lunches), and 5 bottles of fresh orange at 30p each - which will go nicely with the half price croissants and pain au choc that I got from tesco earlier, for breakfast over the next couple of days.

All in all got over £18 worth of food and drink for £4.55 :D

Only downside was that I forgot the bin bags I'd gone in for, so I've got to go back again :o bang goes tomorrow's planned NSD :rotfl:

I managed 213.86 last month so want to do better this time.
  • Hi Mrs McC - could you put me down for £230 in July please. I'm lowering my target for the second month now so I'm very pleased with that.

Its my friends 50th birthday today, so I popped into Asda to buy some flowers and I bought a £10 bouquet for £2.50, alright they "won't" last the usual 7 days but she might get 5 out of them, either way I'm happy and she loved them. :T:j:T:j

OK I am going to try very very very hard to stick to a budget of £150 this month since June was such a disaster. Wish me luck. I've already spent £66.71 on a big shop so I think I'm going to need it.

Why has it got so much harder???

    MrsM,

Please put me down for £400. This includes all groceries, nappies, toiletries, eating out and days out. My resolutions for this month are to allow one takeaway only, try curry queens curry night recipes. Go cash only and also try and keep up with all the posts!!!

    Many Thanks

    Hello again all!

I did this up until April (but couldn't post totals as it just wouldn't work for me for a while??) Anyway, fell off the wagon a bit in May - partly due to arrival of baby number 4 - little Sam arrived 2 days late but was still only 5lb 13.5oz!:D:j

This month I just haven't bothered, but am now ready to start again in July - so please, Mrs Mc, can I have £400 for July for the 6 of us. We are away the last week (France for a fortnight - yippee!!) , so I have taken that into account - but it will include one week of school hols anyway (eek!)

This is all takeaways/ snacks eaten out and about, food/ alcohol/ nappies (I have washables, but will start using them after hols - if Sam is big enough for the ones I have then!!)/ cleaning stuff etc for the 6 of us and 2 guinea pigs. Runs 1st July - 24th July.

I need to get back into more cooking from scratch and baking - we have cheated lots this past month, due mainly to tiredness. Must try harder!:p
