2nd job and ctc's

Hi

Just a quick question. My OH have been really struggling since we have had to pay nursery fees for my dd and we dont qualify for help with nursery fees so I have just managed to get myself a 2nd part time job (yeah me :T) working an extra 8 hours a week bringing my weekly total of hours up to 31.
My main worry is being overpaid ctc's. They will obviously drop but when will this happen? Will they just reduce my current payments now? I am just so worried that I will get a letter saying I have been paid too much and will have to pay it back.
I have not contacted the tax office yet as I have not officially started but am hoping to do so next week and will phone them then.

Thanks in advance
Teenie

They wont just reduce your payments 'cause they wont know about any changes until you tell them. It says with all your paperwork originally sent to you regarding the tax credits , that you must advise them of any changes in circumstances. Then they will be able to let you know if your credits will be changed

No, i realise that. What I meant was will they reduce the payments as soon as i tell them, which I said I would do once I officially started.
My concern is that they will not reduce the payments (if necessary) straight away and I then get a letter further down the line stating that I have been paid too much. I have heard this of happening before and I dont want it to happen to me.

    Thanx

Are they calculating your tax credits on last years tax years (08/09) figures or the current year?

If it is last years it will not affect this years payment amount as you are allowed a 25K PA disregard. IF however it's based on the current year it will affect this years payment amount.

    Hi
Yeah they are using last years figures.

Thanks you for that I really appreciate it, I am just not all that clued up about it and it can be very confusing. Just dont want to be receiving money I am not due.
