Hi,
Was not sure where to post this.
Please help, i am trying to find the perfevt tripod that will not be too heavy, too expensive and will support my Canon eos400d even with my 300mm zoom lens.
I bought a Jessops TP 320 but it does not support the camera very well so you do not get level shots.
Please Please help someone.
Thanks

You need an alloy/aluminium/carbon tripod and a separate ball head for it.
A decent ball head alone should set you back no less than £50 and needs to be large diameter.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Welcome to the expensive world of "find the right tripod"! You'll soon be playing "find the right bag" followed by "find the best strap"......
You'll probably get plenty of suggestions, but the best way is to take your heaviest piece of kit (sounds like the 300mm zoom) to a good shop and try some out. In reality, the cheaper tripods that are up to the job will be heavier and the lighter but still solid ones will be expensive. Kenro, Velbon and Slik have huge ranges from cheap to mad. Manfrotto is popular with serious photographers with deep pockets.....

For best price for a decent tripod the Velbon range are good.
For ultimate money no object, Manfrotto.
What sort of 300mm, lens, just a standard 300mm zoom, or a pro series L lens? For a standard (all black) 300mm a cheap to mid-range velbon would be fine, and you certainly don't need to worry about separate heads unless you are a semi-pro.
If you are talking of a heavy pro lens like the 300mm L series (large white lenses with red stripes, then you need a mid to high end Velbon or any decent Manfrotto.
(Other makes obviously can be reviewed too!)0 -
Anyone know of the Manfrotto 725B, if this would be okay, I have found it for under £70 on Ebay with good reviews?I am only trying to help :rolleyes:0

I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB and the 804 3 way head comes in at £135 from Calument and supports my D300 perfectly. I would not bother with tripods from Jessops especially own brand ones as you do need to spend some £'s for something that should last you a lifetime.0
