Would it be possible to the package but not the flights?? The only reason I ask is that we find it best for us to fly from one airport "East midlands" even thought Birmingham is much closer. We have found over the years that EM airport our DD remains much calmer yet at Birmingham she really does not like for what reason I havent managed to pin point as of yet. So by booking our own flights we have more control over time etc just a thought

Yes that wouldnt be a problem, or you could let us know the flight you want on the off chance that we can get a better price on the flight.

    Hi PolishBigSpender,

Thank you for your input, the site looks alot better now, and there are still improvements to come. I have been very busy lately making arrangements as alot of bookings and enquiries are coming in.

Yep, I forgot to mention - I had a look at the website and it looks wonderful. Well done!
Regarding flights - it depends on the departure airport. We are mainly using BMI, but we are in talks at the moment with a few airlines to see what they can offer. We do have people who can help depending again on the departure airport. It is something we can do but I dont want to add any more costs (I can cover the southwest and I have people who can cover the midlands and scotland. The problem is if we have 40 guests flying out from different airports I will have to employ people to help at the departure point which will add to the holiday cost so I think it will have to be an optional extra for the time being.

You're impressing me, you really are :) I'm horribly tough to impress (search my previous posts, you'll see how I am!) - but you are doing everything right in my book. The fact that you're using BMI for flights is a sign of responsibility - the low cost airlines just wouldn't provide the security in mind that disabled people want/need, and for this reason, you're impressing me.

A suggestion - have you considered trying to target the American/Canadian market too?

Thanks again for the kind words.

I know what you mean about the airline, the flights are more expensive than the budget airlines but in my opinion you get what you pay for. If we send guests over using a cheap flight and they have problems before they have even arrived then their holiday is ruined before its began. That is why the we cannot make the cost of the holiday any lower - we havent scrimped on anything for the sake of profit (if you saw the figures you would see we dont even make 10%!).

There are several ways we could cut costs but it would impact on the quality of the holiday for the guests which is something I dont want to do. The next step is to try and get bulk bookings with bmi which will lower costs (which I can then pass on) - I just hope the £ recovers soon and then we can lower the costs as well.

Regarding other markets, we are just concentrating on the UK for the time being, maybe in a year or 2 we may branch out. I have a regular job to pay the bills and this takes up the rest of my time, my father also helps full time unpaid and I also have 2 others that help - none of us draw a salary from this. As I said before any money made goes straight back in as we want to see this work.

    Thanks again

    Darren

  • Hi there :-)

As a member of a panel that advises on accessibility I have just a couple fo quick suggestions:

The font/type on your website could do with being larger & bolder

Thinking about accessibility needs that are not mobility-related (eg visual fire/smoke alarms for those who have hearing impairment)

Offering a transfers service to-from beaches, attractions etc for non-drivers.

    Good luck!

No. Any site that conforms to the proper HTML standards (Darren, if you're unsure about this, let me know and I'll post more!) will be accessible to everyone - as they will be able to increase font size/use readers/etc without problems. Don't design a site specifically with larger fonts/different type, as you'll run into huge problems this way. A well designed site will be usable by all - a site designed for people with visual problems may very well be unusable and unattractive to people without disabilities.

Absolutely fantastic, I salute you :) I can see that you've actually thought of things that most people wouldn't think of - and this is an absolutely fantastic thing to do.

I'd actually consider contacting Martin Lewis directly about this - you never know what he might be able to do for you :)

Thanks again for the kind words. I agree about the font size and wont be making any changes.

Regarding Martin Lewis - I have no idea how to contact him directly and the thought had never occured.
