Hi all,
I've just got a good deal on various computer components including a PCChips P29G motherboard. I know this is a LGA775 motherboard and so accepts intel core duo cpus amongst others. I would like to fit the fastest cpu I can get and would like some guidance from those who are in the know. I'm rubbish at figuring out what's the best cpu.
Obviously I'm after value for money!:p
Regards

Thanks all. But what I need help with is wether to go for a core 2 duo, P4, P4 HT, Pentium D or whatever. I'm completely lost as to which one will be the quickest............0

The fastest would be a top end C2D, at around 3GHz, with plenty of room to overclock if the cooling's there.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

your board might not accept all core2duos tho, as most of the ones today have a 1333 fsb but your board only seems to list the older 1066 fsb processors.0
