Need some help please
Just today I Have bought a Samsung minidv camcorder model VP-D381, just been looking at it and trying out the controls.
Unfortunately when I Go to playback everything is played back with flashing horizontal lines across the screen. The only reason I Can think of for this is that the heads need cleaning but surely a new item shouldn't have dirty heads?
I don't have a head cleaner to try, my previous model never needed one all the years I Had it, can anyone think of a reason this is happening? Should I take it back?
Tia
PS The tape I'm usiing is also brand new, straight from the packaging.

Can't harm it to do a head clean. May just be a bad tape.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Well, just come back from hols, & capturing my film onto the PC, half way through doing this the green lines came back so l've lost some of my footage:( Looks like it started recording this fault halfway through the tape for some reason).
this was with the another new tape, tried a 3rd - this time an old tape done with my previous camcorder, it plays back visually fine but the sound is distorted.
Do you think my camcorder is faulty?0 -

Yes. Take it back to the shop and they should either fix it or replace it.0
