OK, I've tried to read that back and it's kind of making sense
So how do I download Ubuntu? How do I get Ubuntu to run on the broken PC?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

choose the desktop version here
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
you want the default 32 bit
then burn it to a cd
start the PC and hit F2 ( or whichever key it says for set up) and look for a section that says "boot order" and make sure the CD/DVD drive is the first option, then save and exit
place the CD in the drive on the PC and turn on , should boot to ubuntu , you are looking for a live test , not the install (which runs it from the CD)
there is a built in CD burner software in it which will allow you to burn the photo's off the CD, or it should recognise a USB pen driveEx forum ambassador
