In additon to my last post when you fill in the form saying that it wasnt you driving you will have to say who it was that was driving and their address so they may then send off to your dad what they will do to proceed!
This link may be helpful in regards to foreign drivers caught speeding!

I've just emailed the police, and they replied saying that it will depend on the offence, if they think it is worth to chase a person who lives abroad, sometimes they don't bother to do so. If they do though, they won't be able to give him any points as his driving license has not been issued by the DVLA but the fine might be higher than he would get if he was here.
Thanks hjb123 for your link, it's very interesting.0 -
just be aware there might be a slight possibility there could be a photo of the driver in existance.a friend of mine told the police someone who commited a riving offence had gone to spain and they dropped it,so he says.0

My Canadian mate who lived here for a couple of years only had a Canadian license, when she got caught on camera (which the dozy moo drove past twice a day at least and suddenly forgot about!!!) she only had to pay the fine, no points because they couldn't put them on an international license. The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0

Definitely go with namingr Dad on this one. My Dad is a Policeman and he says there is no way way they will bother tracing your Dad- and even if they do, they can't do him for the points!!
So say it was your Dad- worse comes to worst you'll just have to pay the fine- at least you'll escape the ponits!!!!2008 Wins Total- £315.27

Honesty is the best policy ... I would be surprised if the police wasted much time on pursuing the fine. They may however want to check that he was properly insured.
ivanoI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Similar situation, my Mum was driving my car in England, she lived in Scotland and a speed camera caught her doing 37 in a 30 zone. I obviously told my Mum that this had come in and said I'd have to pass on her details (which was okay by her), but the police never pursued it after that. Honesty always best policy!!0

they are likely to keep on sending you letters asking for all sorts of details; as far as i know, you are only obliged to provide the name/address of driver.0 -
You must name your father otherwise you commit an offence and a much more serious one than just a speeding ticket.
It is unlikely the Police will follow it through as they won't bother with the expense and difficulty.
After all, they usually ignore 'speed camera' speeding offences by foreign registered vehicles.0 -
The best method would be:
- write to them now and ask for pictures to identify the driver
- if it is your dad then complete the NIP with his details and send it back
- be prepared to write back to them stating the facts of his insurance policy (get him to send a copy of his policy to you now, just in case)
- sit back, relaxIn the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?0
