Hi all
I'm moving out for the 1st time ever and have a question about the telephone line. I want to get set up for phone and broadband asap. When I move in, what's the usual routine for the phone line? Do I call BT and tell them I'm the new tennant and they re-activate the line and I start paying - or how does it work?
Thanks

Heya, Im with vrigin... the way its worked for me is...
check the connection in the area, if they supply to that area.
I know virgin cannot be connected in every house, has to have the cable going into the house or something, not sure if its the same for BT etc.
Just tell them where your moving to and choose what ever you are having, then normally they send an engineer round to set up the connection for you...0 -
Hi. It's just the phone line itself I'm worried about at the moment. Any advice on how to sort that?0

like i said you have to choose a supplier and ask them if they do/can supply to your house...they'll tell you what to do when you ring your chosen supplier0

You don't have to go with BT, have a Google and see who's cheapest.
I use Virgin media, I get
24/7 phone (landlines, hang up after an hour)
10mg broadband and XL telly, think it's about £55 a month.
I don't know how it compares with other companies but I have had no problems whatsoever for at least 5 years with any of the products I use.
Don't forget to check for online billling as this makes it a bit cheaper again....
Gas and elec is good to do online too for a bit of a saving.........
