ah thank you I do worry about money a lot and we are very careful with it
but you're right its important sometimes to splash out and enjoy ourselves
we've also got 2 very young children in the family who won't sit still for a minute so I also thought it was easier for them rather than being stuck at a table and being confined
really looking forward to it now especially since Sainsburys have a half price offer on stella at the moment lol

Geez that is a lot. You could go out and have no mess to clean up. Then again if you are cooking sir loins and rump steaks then maybe with the best of best drinks and punches but £300 for a BBQ is crazy on the other hand you could invite more people and it may end up cheaper for each of you.

The think is with 28 people you couldnt eat out for £300 thats just over £10 a head. Even at a cheap resturant with just 1 course at 6 or 7 pounds, having more than 1 drink would push over the budget

BBQ Sounds like a fantastic idea, we have found that buying the meat plain (ie pork steaks, chicken thighs, mince etc) works out cheaper and nicer,

    Our last BBQ we had
Pork steaks (marinated in pork seasoning bought from super market)
Chicken and veg skewers (Marinated in yog, garlic and herbs)
Chicken thighs and drumsticks with some seasoning on
Burgers made from mince with some seasoning - my b/f made these so not sure what he put in but they were lovely!

Hi, could you share how you make your yoghurt garlic marinade please? That sounds delicious. I wouldn't mind having a go myself.

Hi sorry I have only just seen the reply. We make it using yog (Sainsburys basics normally can use greek or normal) Then we mix in what ever we fancy sometimes patak curry paste, or crushed garlic with fresh or dried herbs (italian seasoning is good) Ginger is good too. Its just about what you like really. Remember its a marinade though so out lots of stuff in otherwise you wont get the flavour. Then we cover the chicken and pop it in the fridge ovre night for a few hrs mmmm hungry now
