Hi, I have to buy travel insurance for a couple (us) and a separate policy for my dd. I was wondeering if there are any deals out there whereby if one person buys a policy and then recommends a second who also buys a policy then there is a cash bonus or advantage points or something similar. Does anyone know ? Post officer and boots have certainly had deals in the past.

You would be far better buying Travel Insurance on the quality of the cover and claims service. Travel Insurance has a lot of small print and policies / service vary massively between Insurers.0

I agree totally. However, finding that information out appears to be nigh on impossible. We have claimed on Boots in the past with no problems whatsoever. But again - would we have the same experience if we were to claim again ? I really don't know , to be honest I am not even certain if the underlying policy would be the same as it was 8 years ago.0

Jolly - where are you travelling to? I have experience in Florida but generally speaking I have little trouble in Boots. Post Office (Fortis Ins) are great as are Tesco and Barclays.
Stay away from policies underwriten by AXA (Incl Lloyds TSB, Marks & Spencer)

Thanks FH Brit. I've now looked more closely and discovered that Tunisia (my destination) seems to be included under European Cover at least it is on Post Office and Insure and Go, something to do with it having a meditareanean coastline. By the way Boots is underwritten by AIG0

AIG are the company who are reckoned to be the main company responsible (Or one of the main contributers) to the Credit Crunch. They were bailed out to the tune of $85b by the US government who now own about 80% of AIG so they are pretty secure.
For their sins they also sponsered Man United and loaned a lot of the money to buy Man U.0 -
Hmmm, I noticed that too with that in mind I think I may be persuaded to use Post Office or Insure and Go - just need to check out the actual cover is what I need.0

The Post Office is a good policy, its underwritten by Fortis who get FH Brit and my approval, they were advertising on the radio today that they (Post Office) have been awarded Travel Insurer of the year 2006 to 2008. I find this amusing as Fortis offer a policy through brokers that offers wider cover than the Post Office policy, I assume they take into account the Post Offices large client base.
P.S To give a balanced critic Fortis's parent company who are a very large European Bank and are technicallyn seperate were bailed out by a couple of European Governments after the credit crunch.0 -
I did look at the Fortis website but when I plugged in my postcode it returned no broker for me. I was curious about the policy that Fortis would offer direct0

They only offer it through brokers, try putting a postcode say 10 miles away and it should bring up a broker (They deal with a lot of brokers)0
