Bank Charges again :)

Well the problem that I currently am in is that my bank account is racking up debt. Its currently only at £350, but I feel that HSBC are being a bit crude in there banking methods. Before when I have been in the position, my direct debts would of bounced and I'd get a one off charge. This time though, HSBC are allowing money to be taking out my account that doesn't exist.

Firstly, I had a £31 bill go out when the account was already £100 in the red. So charges on £25 plus interest charges. Cancelled my direct debts after this, so stopping anyone taking money out of my account. Then I noticed that £7 had been taking out my account when i was £190, so another £25 charge plus interest is going to put onto an account that I don't have any money.

I was in £199 in the red, then I got my first payment from job seekers but it went straight into my bank account, so I lost that. I was wondering if the banks had a morrel and legal obligation to give that money from the government to me, even though I am currently in debt?

Some of the charges that are on my account are my fault for taking out money from a informal overdraft, which is daft personally speaking and just another way of getting money out you, but you know, there banks and can do what they like. I don't mind paying part of the charges as I forced them onto my account but my bank seems unwilling to help me out.

The only thing they have offered me is to up date to the Plus 1 account, which is weird when I am potless and can't pay the charges.

I hope I made sence,
