  • My DD1 had a removable brace but was told to take it out when eating. This made it a lot easier.

Hi my daughter has had hers on since last September and now eats anything, I just cut apples into slices so she doesn't have to bite into them. It only took a few days before she got used to it. But never eat toffees or chewing gum anything that could get stuck on!!

Hi, for her lunch box how about banana cake, cream cheese triangles, yoghurts with fruit at the bottom? At home you could blend harder things up to make meals more manageable.

I had a brace fitted when I was fifteen and absolutely hated it at first - but quickly got used to it and found that I could eat anything as long as I was careful - and it was definitely worth it in the end to have nice teeth:D!

    Good luck

Thanks for all the replies. We're one week in now, and as everyone has said she would, she's adjusted really well, and is eating everything again. She chops up apples for herself, and just getting on with it now. :D

    Thank you again :)

What can I feed my hungry teenager with braces? He has been given a list of what he can't eat but little about what he can eat and he's always looking in the fridge. :o
