Demand for payment - electricity bill

:mad:Hi, i moved into my new house in January 2007. I have just received an electricity bill last week for nearly £200 demanding payment in 14 days for electricity used between Jan07 and March07!

Does anyone know what the length of time is that utility companies can demand payment up to? I know they cannot demand payment after a certain period but not sure what length of time this is.

Any advice?

Jane.

They cannot send you the bill for the first time after 12 months. If it was issued in 2007 and is now being chased up they can do this.

They can if the OP never advised their supplier that they had moved in.
