Yes it is, the disk will be a 350Gb part. However due to the way Windows defines a Gb there is room for fewer of them. Confusing, but the maths can be found here.
Your C: drive probably does not occupy the whole drive either, some space is likely to be reserved for a recovery partition which holds diagnostics and an image to restore your PC to factory defaults if needed.
You then lose some of your C: drive to Windows and all the other stuff manufacturers install to be helpful such as trial versions of programs, security packages etc.
In you case this leaves just 264GB to keep your stuff in.

It's a bit like having a car that has a top speed of 150 mph, but you're only allowed to drive it at up to 70...0

Many Thanks Basill i wanted to transfer my photos and files but did not want to do this if the disk space was wrong in case i had to send it back
But thanks for clarifying this for me, just seems like a lot of space to "lose".0 -
It may be partitioned into more than one drive. Does it show any other drives apart from the C:/ ?0

there is likely to be a hidden system restore/diagnostics partition from the laptop manufacturer (guesses are the laptop didnt come with any DVD's with Windows on them)
350GB shouldnt drop down to 288GB in a million years, 325GB is what you should have!0
