I have just ordered a new Macbook Pro - my first venture into the world of Apple. Does anyone know of a programme similar to Windows Money for keeping track of finances? Any suggestions as to other worthwhile programmes for use on Apple Macbook would be appreciated also. Many thanks

Congrats on your new purchase!
Quicken are releasing Quicken Financial Life for Mac in the Autumn; it might be worth waiting for.
As far as other applications go, I use Adium for instant messaging, HandBrake for converting video, Flip4Mac for playing Windows Media files in QuickTime, Perian for adding addtional codecs to QuickTime, VLC for anything QuickTime still cant play, MacTheRipper for backing up DVDs, Skitch for easily sharing screenshots, DropBox for 2 GB of free online storage, SuperCal for display calibration, Growl for notifications, Transmission for bittorrents, the Unarchiver for working with compressed and archived files (e.g. zip files), Monolingual for saving disk space by removing unneeded languages from applications, and I use Safari AdBlock to, you guessed it, block ads in Safari.
I regularly use the iLife applications, I use Safari for browsing (though I keep a copy of Camino around too), Apple Mail for my Mail, and I use iWork (£69), though the free Open Office is good too.
And that's about it off the top of my head!
p.s. Switch 101 is a useful resource if you're new to the Mac. There are also quite a few Mac users on here who I'm sure would be more than happy to help answer any questions that might arise.0 -
OpenOffice is good on the Mac since 3.0 was launched. Better in fact than the "competing" NeoOffice.
QuickSilver is a my favourite app launcher.0
