Royal Mail - Stealing?!!

Bit of a rant about Royal Mail. I had 3 birthday cards posted to me on Monday, 2 of which contained cheques. The one which didn't arrived on Thursday intact. The other two, however, arrived in plastic bags this morning, both had been torn open at the same corner, conveniently avoiding the stamp. I could maybe dismiss it as an accident if one was torn, but two cannot be a coincidence, and it seems obvious to me that someone in the sorting office has opened them hoping to find money inside.
I know post sometimes gets stuck in machines etc, but these tears could not have been caused by a machine. Just a warning to anyone who still puts money in birthday cards, as this has never happened to me before, but the staff in the sorting office obviously can't be trusted.

I now follow two rules....
1, Never send cash / gift tokens etc in the post
2, If sending a birthday card or similar, put the fancy coloured envelope inside a plain brown one for posting to avoid it getting 'accidentally' opened en route0 -
Never had a problem before. Perhaps the reason they're both ripped in the same place is from the automated machines etc?I love surprises!0

We sent my G'daughter cash in a card........... never arrived
So we sent a replacement card and cheque.......... that didn't arrive either
Nowadays I do a direct bank transfer.
Good advice to put the coloured envelope in a plain envelope for posting, but a great pity RM can't sort this outI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
There were no "Accidently" opened envelopes in London on this day http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/4447241.LONDON__Postal_strike_starts/0

I have had this previously sending cards with cash in from London up north - again I don't trust the RM.0
