Fencing

Options
Hi

My fencing job is:

8 x 6ft concrete posts and nine panels, plus concrete gravel boards, on both sides of garden (16 posts and 18 panels and boards in total.)

I've had quotes between £300 and £1260 labour only. £300 sounds too good to be true, whilst £1260 was based on labour of £140 per day.

Any thoughts on this are welcome.

Thank you.

£1260?? OMG I'll do it for that price!!! And I wont ask for any cups of coffee.

That's 9 days to do the work, which is FAR too much. I took a week off to do my mums fencing recently, and that was a huge job. 24 panels and 25 posts. That took me 4 days to do (which included taking down the old fencing, and setting the new posts into post mix)

For £500 - £600 you should be able to get the job done very well...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

You are spot on - I think £300 sounds too cheap and £1260 is way over the top just for labour.
I would aggree with mwillets that about £600 is right.
  • Ive just recently had a new fence fitted, its slightly different because I paid for the materials and labour all together but to give you an idea we had 18 x 6ft boards, 6 x 3ft boards approx 25 concrete posts(there were already a couple of posts in) and concrete bottoms, 2 6ft small gates and one 6ft double gate (for the car) and in total it came to £2200 all in.

It took them 3 days to do it 9am - 6pm and that was 2 men doing it. So it sounds like £1260 is an awful lot just for labour for what you want??? But then again I dont know the breakdown costs of mine.
