I take a packed lunch in every day. It varies as to what's in it, but usually fruit, yogurt, a sandwich, wrap or salad. Tends to depend on what's in the fridge! We have a fridge at work so I keep it in there, and we have a lunch-room with microwaves so you can do hot food too - lots of people take in ready-meals, tins of soup etc. We're really lucky in that we have free fruit at work so I tend to eat that too, saves carrying it in and over a week, it does save a few pounds.

I take a flask of coffee as I find on the 15 minute break by the time you have boiled the kettle and used the rest room you are left with a drink that is to hot to drink and time is now up.

I take a sm.bottle of squash to drink wile working.
Lunch is a sandwich or wholemeal roll, sometimes a sausage roll, sometimes crisps and I like to take grapes, an apple or another fruit - this week I have bought rasberries.
I do not eat out as to the cost.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

I often make up a tub of couscous with herbs and chopped up cooked veg or sausage in, which is really filling and quite healthy. Pasta salad is also a good one. I tend to get bored of sandwiches quite quickly!
  • I often make cous cous at work, just put i.e 1/2 cupful in a mug, cover w boiling water so its just covered, place a plate over it & leave for 5 min. Fluff it up with the fork & eat with tin sardines/mackeral & salad. Yum!!! Cost around £1 (couscous 99p for 500g, tin sardines sub 50p, then salad)

I don't know I have only been in reception and an interview room so far - but it is a big building so I assume they have some facilities however I would rather just take something from home and eat it rather than do something in the kitchen with it

I take packed lunches from home. Usually left overs from the night before (I cook extra if it's something reheatable) or soup.

You can make friends much quicker at the microwave room.. Everyone is bored and looking for someone to have quick chat with!

    ok thanks for the tip
  • I take whatever I can scrap together from the fridge the night before, normally a sandwich or some salad (pasta or lettuce based and a bit of protein and other veg) and a bit of fruit. Today's lunch was a houmous, lettuce and red pepper salad sandwich on granary bread and a banana.

I have a Boots lunch as a treat about once a month and normally get honey mustard chicken salad, water and salt and vinegar crispy discs.

Some of the supermarkets have sandwiches for less than a pound which is pretty cheap. If you can't be bothered to make them from scratch then buy sandwich fillers that are usually on offer. Buy multi-packs of crisps and drinks and biscuits which then all work out at a few pence each. Tesco have healthy choices ham and chicken on offer at 99p per pack and pack of mini sausage rolls for 99p (makes about 15 little ones or 5 normal size ones). The options are endless. Cheese slices and crackers, soup and roll, cheap ready meals. Depends what you like. I make my son pasta salad for a change, pasta, tuna, sweetcorn and onion with mayo. Make extra when you cook at night and freeze it in portion sizes and then take to work another day if you have a microwave.

I'm lucky enough to have a subsidised restaurant at work but it's still cheaper for me to take my own packed lunch which I do Monday to Thursday and then treat myself to lunch on a Friday. Still quite cheap though, £3.00 for a main course and a pud.
