I went in 2003 but stayed in the Marriott booked in a package!
To be honest I have no idea about the prices but be warned, a 3 star over there isn't the same as a 3 star else where!
I'm assuming you know about your malaria tablets!
A little tip for you is to eat pineapple for 2 weeks before you go! Apparently it helps your stomach! Delhi belly is like nothing else I promise you!
I managed to avoid it for 10 days but it gets you eventually! I was feeling fine until we went out for dinner one night! Started feeling a bit unwell but nothing major! Ordered loads of food and by the time it arrived I was in a state!
Managed to get back to the hotel and then you know what! :rotfl:
Was alright the next day though!
Have a wicked time though. Oh and the beach by us wasn't that nice to be honest and don't swim in the sea! :eek:0 -
Damn May you must like it hot! I am currently here in Goa and going to Delhi on Friday as most of the people are starting to leave in April and also most of the shacks will be shutting down soon. Dont worry there will still be many things open its just the beach shacks start to close from April or May, some have gone now though these are the smaller ones.
Accommodation is cheap but it depends what you want, if you want really basic (a hut on the beach and shared bathroom) your are talking 100/150 rupees a night thats less that 2 pounds. If you move in land you can get some nice places for 300 per night as its now off season (about 4 pounds) and these will come with a kitchen, fan, private bathroom ect but for anything from 8 pounds upwards you will get AC.
They are price for south Goa but if you go north its more.
On a side note if you want to go where no one can contact you and its dead (most of the beach to yourself) with no hotels for miles go to agonda. You will need a taxi and tell him when to pick you up as there are no taxi's thats i have seen there but you can hire bikes.
Its so nice just to spend a few days there really really peaceful.
Hope you have a great time.... Just remember it will be really hot and humid!0 -
Normally there are no package holidays to Goa after Apriltravelover0

Ive got contact details for booking hotel we stayed at, cost is around 1000 rupees a night, to inc breakfast.. Lovely hotel and lovely staff, we will be going bk there in November. Walking distance from beaches, quite busy ones tho so we tended to get taxi to take us to quieter ones. But we loved this hotel.
Also have taxi contact dtails if u need a reliable driver, PM me if u want them.
He csan also collect u from airport for 650 rupees.
Lucky u have a fab time!!0 -
Goa will be very hot and humid in May. My parents went once in late March and found the temperature and humidity uncomfortable then.
The best times to go are between November to February.
My parents have mainly been to hotels in the Calangute area. On their last trip they booked flights through BA, including transfers from the North East to London, and booked the hotel direct. This worked out considerably cheaper than a package deal which didn't include the UK flight transfers. Here I go again on my own....0 -

The price for a taxi will depend where you want to go as 650 should take you to another state as you can get taxis for 700 for a full day. The best bet is once you have your area that you know you will stay is go to the pre-paid taxi booth outside the airport (just outside the main doors), the one inside the main doors is alot more $$$.
Prices range though it costs me 400 to get to the airport but thats from benalium / colva area in a AC taxi or 360 none AC.0 -
