Budgeting Course?

Hi there,

I work in a Supported Housing Unit and we are developing a budgeting course to help our residents.

Does anyone know of any good budgeting courses out there, maybe particularly suited to young people? It'd be good to see some good practice or other examples of the work.

Thanks!

I don't know of any budgeting courses I'm afraid, but the MSE Budget Planner (this page, under free tools) and Martin's money guide for teens is a useful start.
I do a monthly spreadsheet and include the savings I've made by using coupons, taking up offers, saving odd coins to bank etc. I also include a section for unexpected expenses. Its surprising how informative it becomes over time. I am presently starting to plot the times of sales in the shops in a diary to help plan ahead as well. I think the answer is to set up a spreadsheet and have a target to aim for. After 12 months it then becomes more useful to compare for seasonal items etc.
Another idea might be to look at some accountancy firms websites for quick tools.
Keep reading this site, I have saved loads! Thank you Martin! :j
