Glad to hear it worked out for you. I note your original post was dated 27.06 and your claim has still not been resolved, I bet you are pleased you did not wait for the insurers?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Yes I know, Asda said they would call me but they never did - but in all honesty this gave me time to look into whether it would be worth making the claim or leaving it. I found a decent quote and then that day a letter arrived saying 'we have tried to call you so called them and got it all sorted out.
As it stands today we would still be without a TV so yes, I am so pleased that it was sorted.
Rather interestingly, I was told by the TV engineer that 50% of these TV's cannot be repaired as the parts are not available so they have to be written off - ours was one of these. I think that the Insurance Company must have known this as they were happy for me to sort out the engineer and pay for him to give an estimate. I could have got a 'friend' to do it for me and they would not have known really. It just seems odd. But glad that we got another.0 -

I only add this because it is a fairly fundamental but off topic point. The above quoted poster is quite, quite wrong. Insurers do not and can not charge VAT so can not register for VAT, and so can not claim back VAT. Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) is charged instead.
Vouchers or own suppliers are used instead because insurers access bulk buying discounts through those suppliers.
O.P. Glad you got your claim sorted. Asking you to get a repair estimate is really quite unusual - it is probably because you already purchased the replacement - more typicaly an insurer will arrange for the damaged item to be collected then assessed.0 -

Nope. Well, unless you fancy a holiday at Her Majesty's Pleasure for fraud.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
