Hello,
Just bought a new tv
hxxp://reviews.argos.co.uk/1493-en_gb/5294103/reviews.htm
It says on the website that its HD ready, however when I get it home and looked it doesnt say anywhere that its HD ready or a HD Tv, even in the manual.
It has a HDMI socket at the back though.
So am I right in thinking its a 720 HD Tv?
Thanks

if it has HDMI it will be
what are you connecting to it?0 -
Just another thing to point out-the resolution is 1440x900 which makes it 16:10, not 16:9 as most other larger widescreen TV's are.Dave. :wave:0

Do you actually HAVE anything to drive the hd side of things? (PS3, SKY HD etc)
As Phantom said, youve bought an odd screen size which means youll get even bigger bars at the top and bottom of the screen than most tvs. (Unless you 'stretch' the screen to fit but then everything will look a lot thinner than it should, and probably at the expense of quality too):idea:0 -
You will find that you will get black lines on either side using a 1368x900 picture (top to bottom will be fine), i wouldnt worry too much.
It is compatable with 720i/P and below.0 -

That's odd; it's more like a computer monitor than a TV.0 -

I am planning to get a PS3 in the near future so I was just checking that what I have bought would be suitablePhantom_Flan_Flinger wrote: »Just another thing to point out-the resolution is 1440x900 which makes it 16:10, not 16:9 as most other larger widescreen TV's are.
Thanks, so its not going to matter? I will just lose the edges of the screen?Do you actually HAVE anything to drive the hd side of things? (PS3, SKY HD etc)

Planning for a PS3, so as long as I lock the aspect to 16:9 I will be okay?0 -
This may be quite an obvious question but I have read on my travels of google that its the screen resolution which enables the TV to be HD. Since I have a laptop which has a resolution of 1280x800 would this be able to handle HD? or am I being a lil silly?0

Yes, you should be able to display HD on your computer if it's fast enough.
Download a 720p trailer from here and see how you get on.Phantom_Flan_Flinger wrote: »I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that they convert some into TV's that were originally built to be monitors.
I recall hearing something similar. It's just such an odd display ratio for a TV.0
